Project Reception

‘Developing strong leadership and expert teaching in the Reception Year’

This year long programme led by Bristol’s Early Years Teaching School currently brings together 48 EYFS Leaders working in Bristol primary schools to consider best practice, latest research, national priorities and leadership challenges in the Reception year. This programme encourages reflective thinking and discussion about effective pedagogy in relation to the 4 themes of the statutory EYFS framework and participants will identify areas for development in their own school using an action research approach.

Programme aims include:

  • Developing effective and confident EYFS pedagogical leadership in schools
  • Develop a  shared understanding of EYFS best practice based on research evidence
  • Improve GLD and reduce attainment gaps for disadvantaged groups
  • Develop champions of change based on action research in your own school
  • Create an EYFS learning community to strengthen practice and inspire others
