Updates - Covid - 19 testing
Email dated 08.02.2021
Dear Early Years Colleagues,
Please see below a couple of brief updates regarding testing.
Lateral flow testing kits for businesses that employ more than 50 people
The government has extended the availability of test kits to businesses who employ 50 people or more. This will include some of the larger PVI settings in Bristol. As things stand at the moment, smaller PVIs and childminders will still need to access the Bristol Rapid Testing Centre , 17-18 Wellington Road, Bristol, BS2 9DA
If you employ more than 50 people you can use the link below to order coronavirus rapid lateral flow testing kits for your employees.
Bristol COVID surge testing
Three new ‘surge testing’ sites have been opened to try and learn more about the mutated covid-19 VARIANT IN Bristol and South Gloucestershire. The test sites are specifically for people in 24 BS postcodes who do not have any COVID symptoms.
Please see link above, the attached FAQs and the key messages below:
- The only exception to the postcode rule above is for essential workers, who are still travelling into those areas specified – they are also eligible for a test, according to the council’s FAQ document, even if they do not also live in that area.
- Unlike most coronavirus test sites, booking is not currently required for the three surge testing sites. People can just turn up, but there were some queues seen over the weekend so it is possible there will be a wait. A new booking system is planned to be introduced on Tuesday February 9th
- People who live in a nearby postcode should not use these surge testing sites. Testing for people without symptoms through this route is only available to those living or working in the specified postcode sectors. If you have symptoms, you can book a normal test in the usual way. This can be done online at www.nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119.
Keep safe and best wishes,
The Early Years Team
