Dear Free Early Entitlement Provider,

At the end of August 2020, we emailed to advise that we were looking into whether we could use the number of children in places from the Autumn 2019 headcount data to support you in Autumn 2020, as though there had been no COVID-19 outbreak. We are making good progress with this analysis and are expecting the last pieces of data from the maintained and academy sectors to be available by the end of November. Thank you for your continued patience whilst we make our assessment.

Also, at the start of December 2020 we will be launching a sector wide consultation on the Early Years National Funding Formula (EYNFF) where all providers will be invited to contribute on how we deliver the funding in 2021-22. We appreciate that the timing of this consultation is not ideal (i.e. being in the run up to Christmas), however the funding information is not shared with us by the Department for Education until the start of December and the outcomes of the consultation must then be reviewed at The School’s Forum on 13th January 2021.  This leaves us little option in terms of timing for the sector to respond to the consultation and the LA to collate and analyse responses. However, in response to feedback, we will shortly be sharing some supporting literature in advance about the quality supplement element (also referred to as the System Leadership model), so that you can be better prepared and informed when you respond to the online survey.
