Subject: Early Years Update – Afghan Resettlement Plan & Book start
Dear Colleague,
Further to last week’s EY Bulletin, we have an important update (below) to share for any settings supporting recently arrived Afghan families.
We are also attaching a flyer with information about how to register for this year’s free Book start gift pack for your children starting school in September 2022.
With best wishes
The Early Years team
Afghan Resettlement Plan – Bristol Early Years
As you will be aware, Afghan families have been arriving in the UK, with Bristol proudly welcoming those families in need. The majority of these families will not have national insurance numbers nor national asylum support service (NASS) numbers, so may encounter online application system barriers when trying to access free childcare.
To enable an easy application route for Afghan families, Bristol City Council will be using our Enhanced Provision process (usually only offered to children under 2 years old). Please complete the attached application form if you are supporting an Afghan family who require free childcare for a child aged 4 and younger (i.e. not school age). Complete and email the attached form using our Send Secure service to eyenhancedprovision@bristol.gov.uk.
Please do not add the children of these families to the October headcount / census.
