Food for Life Early Years Award
The Food for Life Early Years Award scheme is a framework for early years settings to focus on and improve the food within their setting. This includes the food that is served for snacks and lunches, cooking with children and the local community, and growing fresh produce onsite. The Awards can be worked towards over a period of time, with support from the expert Food for Life team. Lunches which are provided by an outside caterers or onsite chefs must meet the Food for Life standards of quality, seasonality, provenance and serving environment. The Early Years Award is a way for settings to focus on areas which may need developing, and also celebrate those that are working well. This is a national scheme which is available to all Early Years Settings.
In Bristol, the Food for Life Early Years Award is offered for free to all Children’s Kitchen settings as part of a funded partnership. This brings additional support and professional development for practitioners as well as resources and community focused events.
