ECHO and Early Education are delighted to welcome inspirational speaker, Dr. Sharon Colilles, to Bristol for our first ‘in-person’ CPD event of 2024.
This important CPD session will support those working with children to reflect on principled approaches for inclusion, and how adaptations to your pedagogical approach can foster a strong sense of self, as well as feelings of belonging and wellbeing for the diverse learner.
Guided by her own story as well as her doctoral research, Sharon will support practitioners to develop a greater awareness and understanding of how play can act as a vehicle for reflection on teaching and practice.
Sharon will reflect upon the environment as an ideal space in which to ‘slow down’, in order to value and validate children’s diverse ethnic backgrounds. In addition, she will explore how culturally appropriate resources can facilitate rich conversations about a positive sense of identity with young children, particularly children from a mixed ethnic background.
