City of Bristol College offers an exciting work-based Foundation Degree for early years practitioners, including childminders. It has been designed specifically for those needing a flexible route to Higher Education as it enables you to remain employed whilst working towards your degree.
While recognised as a full time course you will attend college just one day a week for the two year course duration. Ideally, you will work a minimum of two days a week with children, have a vocational qualification at Level 3 and have been working for at least a year. Tuition fees can be applied for through Student Finance and maintenance loans are also available if required.
This course has been proven to develop knowledge and skills and transform practice through reflection and research. Childminders are currently underrepresented in our student group, and we would love to hear from you if reading this has sparked your interest. There are still some spaces available for this September so do get in touch with either Kathy or Kate if you would like to find out more.
